FREEDOM! The Law’s Lesson (note: click the arrow to re-watch the teaching videos for this message)

Day 1: The Perfect Law of LoveReading:
Romans 7:1-6, Deuteronomy 6:4-5

Devotional: God's law reflects His perfect nature - holy, loving, and flawless. As we read these passages, let's reflect on how the law serves as a mirror, showing us both God's character and our own shortcomings. The command to love God with all our heart, soul, and might reveals the depth of relationship He desires with us. Yet, as imperfect beings, we fall short. This realization should not discourage us, but rather point us to our need for Christ.

  1. Today, consider how God's perfect love has been demonstrated to you, even in your imperfections.

  2. How can you respond to this love in your daily life?

Day 2: Freedom in Christ

Reading: Romans 6:1-14, Galatians 5:1

Devotional: Paul speaks of our death to the law through Christ's body. This concept of being "dead to the law" might seem confusing at first, but it's a beautiful picture of our freedom in Christ. We are no longer bound by the impossible standard of perfect law-keeping, but are instead empowered by God's grace to live in true freedom. This freedom isn't a license to sin, but an opportunity to serve God out of love rather than obligation.

  1. Today, reflect on areas of your life where you might still be operating under a sense of religious duty rather than grace-driven love.

  2. How can you embrace the freedom Christ has given you to live more fully for Him?

Day 3: The New Creation

Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, Ezekiel 36:26-27

Devotional: Pastor Jason mentioned becoming a "new creation" in Christ. This transformation is not just a slight improvement of our old selves, but a complete renewal. God promises to give us a new heart and put His Spirit within us. This indwelling presence of God enables us to live in ways we never could before.

  1. As you consider these passages, think about how your life has changed since coming to Christ.

  2. Are there areas where you still need to fully embrace your identity as a new creation?

  3. Ask God to help you see yourself as He sees you - holy, beloved, and empowered by His Spirit.

Day 4: Living by Faith, Not by Law

Reading: Galatians 2:15-21, Romans 3:21-26

Devotional: The law's primary purpose was to show us our need for a Savior. Now that Christ has come, we live by faith in Him, not by adherence to a set of rules. This shift from law to faith can be challenging to grasp fully. It doesn't mean we disregard God's moral standards, but rather that our righteousness comes from Christ, not our own efforts.

  1. Today, examine your heart. Are there areas where you're still trying to earn God's favor through your actions?

  2. How can you more fully rest in the finished work of Christ and allow His life to be lived through you?

Day 5: God's Unfailing Love in Our Weakness

Reading: Romans 8:31-39, Psalm 103:8-14

Devotional: This week’s message emphasized God's unchanging love for us, even when we fail. This truth is powerfully comforting, especially when we're acutely aware of our shortcomings. God's love isn't based on our performance, but on His character. He knows our frame and remembers that we are dust, yet He loves us with an everlasting love. As you meditate on these passages, allow God's unconditional love to wash over you.

  1. Are there areas of shame or guilt you need to release to Him?

  2. How can the assurance of God's unfailing love empower you to live more confidently and joyfully for Him today?
